The Poop Diaries - Oh, Can It Be?

Is it possible, after only actual 1 entry in The Poop Diaries, that we may be seeing the "beginning of the end"? (Pun not originally intended - but quite on purpose well before typing the first quotation symbol.)
Gage's no-nonsense, right-down-to-business, "what, like-you-were-thinking-I-couldn't-really-do-it?" manner of making a completely clean, rather healthy snap caught me completely off guard today. I nearly imagined that the dog pooping in the toilet was a more likely possibility, given the out-right indignation I've been receiving lately ("no, I not a-go poo-poo in-a potty!"). I actually pointed at it, and asked, "Did you do that?"
In response to his affirmation, I jumped up and down, picked him up & squeezed him, saying, "I'm SO PROUD of you!" Lots more whooping & hollering, running all around the house. He joined me (I guess it looked fun), running around half-naked (him, not me), & very proud of himself.
Fluke? I hope not. And so does he. A trip to Legoland is riding on it. Only 2 more times & he's there!

NYC, sans bebes

We left the twins with Scott's sister & her family on the last Wed. of Sept. Through a series of events, they would end up at my sister's on Thursday & stay with her family until our return, The first Tues. of Oct.
We arrived at La Guardia at 7pm without incident, took a taxi to Ludlow St. in Nolita, picked up the apt. key from Joel at Dolce Vita, & traveled 6 more blocks to Elizabeth St. to what would be our new digs for one week. After paying the cab driver just under $30, we found the entry to the apt, right next to "Elizabeth & Vine", a charming & pricey wine store situated just below our bldg. We wheeled our suitcases in & Scott trudged his up the 4 flights of stairs to 4R, then came back to get mine, and I hauled up my carry on... all the way up Scott pointed out the huge dings he made in the freshly applied plaster with his suitcase, you'd think they'd have put up a sign when you first walked in! We dropped off the stuff, then headed a few doors north to the Rialto for some fine Italian dining. We patrolled the neighborhood a little, then headed back.
Thursday was a lot of shopping in our neighborhood & SoHo - got Scott a cool ring, dinner at Cafe Napoli (so-so) in Little Italy, back to apt. for costume change... then off to check out B.E.D. It was pretty slow there, not as impressive as you'd think it should be, but the mojitos were EXCELLENT - I had the blueberry, which was the best. We skipped out of there & headed over to the Meatpacking District to Lotus, which was a very nice night club. We met some fun folks, a couple of Argentinians who were not a couple yet, but will make a very cute couple soon! They shared drinks with us & we hung out for hours, it was a great time.
Friday we slept in forever, then got out & met up with Van to check out his shop & office. We played phone tag with Uncle Bob all day, trying to figure out the plan to go out to Long Island. I can't really remember what else we did! But, we met Van later for tapas at a nice place around the corner. Then he headed for his girlsfriend's & we headed back to the apt, to bed around 2am.
Sat: Up a 9am to try to get to LIRR for the 10:29am train, but we missed our first subway because we were on the wrong side of the tracks. There was some sort of garbled announcement & Scott was wondering why people were moving to the other side of the track... we soon found out. So, by the time we got to the LIRR & sort of figured out (Scott figured out) the train we needed, we were waving goodbye to its backside... call to Uncle Bob, we'll be an hour & a half late. We finally got there, and Janice was there with the baby (Jane), and her little boy (6?), Quinn. Tatum was with dad, on the boat on the way out from CT, they were all going camping overnight & were coming to pick up Quinn. Laura showed up, & we all had an early supper. Aunt Nancy is a crack up, very 'New York', grew up in the city. We had a good time, and I've told Laura I want to be in the Macy's Day parade next year with her... I want to go to 'Clown School'. Uncle Bob took us back to the train stop so we could catch the 8:58p train back. We jumped right on the subway & headed to Pacha to hear the DJ Carl Cox. Unfortunately, he did not come on until 2pm, and we were beat. We stayed for 2 songs, and headed back to Elizabeth St.
Sunday, another sleepfest, & we missed getting into any same-day ticket Broadway plays. Had late lunch at the Roxy delicatessen, a GIANT Roxy reuben (split) and a delicious piece of cheesecake. Walked around Times Square, got some souvenirs & went into FAO Schwartz to get Avery her triceratops & a snake for Gage. Window shopped along 5th ave for a bit. Bought discount tickets to RENT online (thanks to coupons from Uncle Bob). Later that night a great dinner with our host & his gal at Extra Virgin in the swanky part of town on West 4th Street.
Monday, I had a fever at night, Scott let me sleep in. We headed out & I made sure to get over to Barney's for a bday gift for my friend Kris. RENT started at 3pm, we had 4th row center seats. It was great! Dinner afterwards at Angelo's Pizza on W. 57th.
Tues, Visited with Van & then it was off to the airport & back to our babies!!!

The Poop Diaries

So I pick up Gage from preschool yesterday, and one of the aides, Miss Jen, says they are taking him to the potty right after lunch, to see if he'll poop. She takes him in, and he tells her he wants to close the door... which is fine. Privacy is good for pooping. Then, a few minutes later he exclaims, "I did it, I did it!" She opens the stall door to see if he needs help, he looks up at her and says with a wry smile, "I'm just kidding!" So cute.
